In Burkina Faso, theatre plays an important part in the discussion of daily life and political events. This article analyses how theatre productions are situated between reality and the fictionality of stage action. The choice of stage, the use of different languages, the weight of individual personalities are factors in the way in which reality and fiction have crossed in productions in recent years. Considering productions at festival “Récréâtrales” and elsewhere, the article emphasizes the importance of location whenever the crossing of reality and fiction is at play.
