Dans cette fonction elle a inspiré le «musée imaginaire» sous la forme d’un livre, comme André Malraux l’a nommé. Diverses réminiscences des oeuvres d’art pictural sont formatrices pour le roman; donc il est comparable à un musée imaginaire, qui expose des reproductions d’images. L’imaginaire est aussi constitutif pour le projet du roman que pour le musée du livre photo. The imaginary is as significant and constitutive for the novel as for Malraux’s photo-book museum.
