Recently, there can be stated a growing interest in several issues concerning the history and process of collecting and collections in both literary and cultural studies. Joining in these considerations on practices and functions of collecting, this article focuses on the possibility of developing a concept which can be summed up under the programmatic phrase „ut collectio poesis“. Exemplarily dealing with Goethe’s The Collector and his Circle (Der Sammler und die Seinigen, 1799) and Orhan Pamuk’s The Museum of Innocence (Masumiyet Müzesi, 2008) it can be shown that different types of collectors and the act of collecting have been reflected in the literary medium ever since. Furthermore the latter can be regarded as a poetological model itself.

On a observé récemment un intérêt croissant pour les collections, leur histoire et leurs pratiques dans les études littéraires et culturelles. Partant de considérations sur les pratiques et les fonctions des collections, cet article se concentre sur la possibilité de développer un concept qui peut être résumé par la formule programmatique „ut collectio poesis“. Comme le montrent les exemples The Collector and his Circle (Der Sammler und die Seinigen, 1799) de Goethe et The Museum of Innocence (Masumiyet Müzesi, 2008) d’Orhan Pamuk, différentes pratiques de la collection se reflètent dans le médium littéraire. En outre, celle-ci peut être elle-même considérée comme un modèle poétique.
